Nursing Mother and Child Mothers will be able to stroll the street fairs, confident in the knowledge that when their child becomes hungry, there is a comfortable chair in a quiet tent waiting for them; that when a diaper needs changing, there will be a clean changing table available; that their older children will be happily occupied within sight while they care for their infants; and that they can leave the diaper bag full of heavy supplies at home, because diapers, wipes, ointments, hand sanitizers, and other diapering necessities will be available. The Local Economy Mom's Breastaurant provides a resource that not only allows, but encourages parents of small children - specifically breastfeeding moms - to participate in outdoor events. This means that they are paying admissions to concerts or festivals, buying goods from craft vendors or artists, and eating out - thus generating added business revenues for local merchants and restaurateurs wherever a Mom's Breastaurant is set up. Society as a Whole Numerous studies have linked breastfeeding with both fewer instances of illness, and shorter duration of illness in children, as well as to reduced risks of certain cancers and other health issues in nursing mothers. Nursing leads not only to lower healthcare costs, but to lower insurance premiums for the group and to less absenteeism in the workplace.
